Code of Conduct
1. Purpose & Core Principles
We are committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of gender, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, or religion. This Code of Conduct applies to all participants, judges, mentors, organizers, and sponsors throughout the event.
2. Unacceptable Behaviors
- Harassment & Intimidation: Offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, or non-consensual photography and recording used to harass, threaten, or intimidate others. (Note: Standard event photography and recording by participants, media, and organizers are permitted, provided they are not done with malicious intent or in private/sensitive areas.)
- Disruptive Behavior: Deliberate and repeated interference with speakers, workshops, or judging sessions - such as persistent heckling or intentional noise disturbances. This policy targets malicious attempts to derail the event and strictly excludes active participation, asking questions, or interacting with mentors, which are strongly encouraged.
- Ragging, Bullying & Seniority Abuse: Any form of ragging, physical or verbal bullying, hazing, or coercive behavior, including using one's senior academic status or identity to intimidate, dictate, or call names to junior students, is strictly forbidden.
- Sexual Abuse & Harassment: Unwelcome sexual attention, physical contact, inappropriate sexual images or language, and any form of coercion or abuse.
- Discrimination: Any form of exclusionary speech or behavior based on identity or appearance.
3. Reporting Procedure
If you experience or witness any violation of this Code of Conduct:
- Primary Report: Report immediately to Fawzia Tahsin (Ethics and Conduct Lead).
- On-Site Organizers: All organizing team members will be present at the venue throughout the event and can be identified by their Organizer ID Cards. If Fawzia Tahsin is not immediately visible, any organizer should be contacted immediately regarding a breach.
4. Enforcement Hierarchy & Appeals Procedure
To maintain order and immediate safety, the enforcement process operates under a structured authority hierarchy:
- Immediate Venue Authority: Fawzia Tahsin (Ethics and Conduct Lead) serves as the immediate authority on-site. Her decisions regarding any Code of Conduct violation will be enforced immediately (including immediate removal or sanction). As the disciplinary lead, she will inform the broader organizing committee whenever deemed appropriate.
- First-Level Appeal (Departmental Review): If an affected participant wishes to appeal an enforcement decision, they have the option to submit an appeal to the teachers from the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics.
- Final-Level Appeal (University Proctorial Body): If further review is necessary following departmental review, the appeal will reach the BAU Proctorial Body. The Proctorial Body serves as the final authority, and their decision will be considered the absolute last resort.
